Serves 2
½ cup sushi rice*
2 yellowfin tuna steaks
¼ cup salt-reduced soy sauce
¼ cup honey
2 peeled garlic cloves
½ tsp ginger powder
1 tbsp olive oil
To Serve
1 bunch Chinese broccoli
1 sprig spring onion, sliced, optional
Sesame seeds, optional
Method:
Remove tuna from the fridge, mix all marinade ingredients and pour half of the marinade over the tuna, marinate for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, chop Chinese broccoli roughly and steam until just tender. Remove from heat.
Preheat air-fryer at 190C for 5 minutes. Transfer marinated steaks into the basket and air fry for 4-5 minutes for medium rare. Rest for 2 minutes before serving.
Prepare rice according to packet instructions. Divide rice and steamed greens between two plates. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced spring onion, if using, add steaks and drizzle with leftover marinade.
*Notes: You can use swordfish steaks as an alternative in this recipe.
We used dry sushi rice, cooked in a rice cooker according to packet instructions. For convenience, you can use microwave rice pouches.
Brown rice or long-grain rice work well.
